The project was for a side and rear extension to an Edwardian house in an up-and-coming area of North West London.  In the process of the development of the brief, the clients were encouraged to look at opening up the new kitchen and dining area to be created and linking it more strongly to the rest of the house.  They also liked the idea of bringing as much natural light into the house and to renovate and remodel the loft completely.

The new side extension was covered with a fully-glazed roof, including glass beams, which floods the rooms with light and lends natural light to the living room adjacent.  The house was then fully renovated with the introduction of hard wearing and modern materials, such as micro-cement, while keeping period features.  New glazing has minimal sight-lines and the corner-opening sliding doors in the dining room allow the room to be fully opened up to the patio and garden.
