Dollis Avenue, N3
Barnet

The project, for returning clients, concerned an imposing late Victorian detached villa on four storeys with an attached swimming pool and imposing long views over the surrounding hills.

The house suffered from unsympathetic interventions and, like many properties of it’s age, from many smallish rooms with poor circulation and connection between storeys.

The living accommodation on the lower two floors were opened up with extensive structural interventions.  The living rooms on the ground floor were linked to the kitchen and dining rooms on the lower ground floor by an all-glass two-storey extension and a floating staircase with glass balustrade.  More natural light was brought in by replacing a traditional bay on the ground floor with a fully glazed bay.  Light was then let into the lower ground floor swimming pool lobby by inserting a glass floor near the bay.

The house was then fully renovated and has a new kitchen and utility, new bathrooms, a sauna and gym, a study and a games room, resulting in a contemporary and luxurious family home.
